Superclip is built local-first. This page explains exactly what stays on your computer, what leaves it, who receives it, and why. It applies to the Superclip app on Windows and Mac and to getsuperclip.com.
What stays on your computer
Everything you copy, including your clipboard history, images, notes, screenshots, collections and the text Superclip reads from images, is stored only on your computer, and your history is encrypted there. We never receive it. You can delete clips or clear your history at any time inside the app.
Passwords, API keys and similar secrets that Superclip recognises are not added to your history, and copies from password managers are skipped. Automatic detection can't catch everything, so you can also pause capture or ignore an app in Settings.
Music details, your recently played songs, focus sessions and AI usage figures shown in the notch are also kept only on your computer.
What our servers receive
To check your licence, our licence service (hosted on Cloudflare) stores:
- your account identifier and the email address of the Google account you sign in with;
- purchase references from our payment partner (no card details);
- for each computer you activate: a random device key, a one-way fingerprint, the device name you see in the app, and when it was last checked;
- security logs of licence actions (for example "key redeemed" or "PC removed").
Licence keys and purchase emails are stored only as one-way hashes. To stop abuse, we count requests per network address using a salted hash that changes daily.
Other connections the app makes
Some features need to reach other services directly from your computer. We don't receive or see this data; each service handles it under its own privacy policy.
- Updates: Superclip checks downloads.getsuperclip.com (Cloudflare) for new versions, which sends your IP address and app version.
- Website icons: when you copy a link, or copy from a web page, Superclip asks Google's favicon service for that site's icon. Only the site's domain, such as github.com, is sent, never the full address or what you copied.
- Synced lyrics: when you open lyrics, the song title, artist and length of what's playing are sent to LRCLIB (lrclib.net) to find them.
- AI usage (if you turn it on): Superclip reads usage from Claude Code on your computer, and asks Cursor and ChatGPT for your Cursor and Codex usage using the sign-in those apps already saved on your computer. Your tokens are sent only to those companies and are never stored or sent anywhere else.
- Video in the notch: YouTube videos play in YouTube's own embedded player, so YouTube receives your request just as it would in a browser.
- Sign in with Google: sign-in happens on Google's own page in your browser; we receive only your account identifier and email address.
Crash reports
To fix bugs, Superclip sends crash and error reports to Sentry. A report contains only the error, where in the code it happened, and the app and operating system versions. Superclip removes your user name, file paths and quoted text before sending, and reports never include your clips, screenshots, memory dumps or computer name. You can turn this off in Library → Settings → Privacy → Diagnostics.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, which handles your payment details, taxes and receipts under its own privacy policy. We receive the payment reference and the email used for the purchase.
We email you only about your purchase: your licence key or a confirmation. Emails are sent through Resend, and the content is deleted from our systems once sent. We don't send marketing without asking.
This website
getsuperclip.com uses no cookies and no third-party trackers. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, doesn't track you across sites and doesn't identify you; it shows us totals such as page views, countries and device types. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. The pricing section reads only a count of early-user places taken, which contains no personal data.
How long we keep data
- Account, device and purchase records: while your account exists. When you delete it, we keep only anonymised purchase records where tax law requires.
- Security logs: 90 days.
- Network-address hashes used against abuse: deleted within two days.
- Email records: up to 30 days after sending; the message content itself is removed as soon as it's sent.
Your choices and rights
- Remove a computer from Library → Settings → License at any time.
- Delete your account from Library → Settings → License. This removes your account and devices.
- Turn off crash reports, text in images or AI usage in Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal data, or to object to how it's used. Email us to use these rights; we'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Superclip isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We'll update this page when what we collect changes; the date at the top shows the latest version.
